The real story of Jonah

The story of Jonah is one in which most of us would say that we have been intimately familiar since we were children. We know the basic story... the story of how Jonah disobeyed God, ran away on a ship, was caught in a great storm, thrown overboard, and then swallowed by a great fish. This is a great children’s story, but that is not the real story of Jonah. The story of Jonah is really a story about God’s love for the world and his desire to redeem it. John 3:16 says

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Believe it or not… John 3:16 is the basis for the real story of Jonah…
